New starter alert! Meet Venice Dumagan

We’ve added another member to our Philippines team – meet Venice Dumagan! She has over six years’ experience recruiting across technology, medical and software organisations in both the Philippines and the US, and brings a passion for helping people advance their careers.

We sat down and had a chat with Ven so you can get to know her a little better.

What do you do at Creative Natives?

I’m a Senior Sourcing Specialist focusing on roles across social media, content creation and creatives. Helping match candidates with clients daily!

Why did you want to join the Creative Natives team?

I was connected with a few members of the team on LinkedIn and got hooked on their relatable posts! I wanted to be part of something that has energy and excitement and Creative Natives definitely has that. I also loved that the interview process was a conversation and not an interrogation, it was so refreshing.

What do you love about recruitment?

Interviews! I love talking to people and learning about what they do, what they’ve learned throughout their career and where they want to go next.

If you weren’t a recruiter, what would you be doing?

Probably graphic design and video editing. I’d love to be a video editor for my favourite YouTubers and make thumbnails for their videos. I want to be able to do the chaotic type, like Cold Ones, Cody Ko and Noel Miller.

If you could be a guest on any podcast, what would it be and why?

Jumping Into An Elevator by Mike’s Mic. He talks about all sorts of things: reality TV, science, memes and pop culture – just about everything I’m into. Being a guest would almost be like catching up with an old friend.

What are you watching/listening to/reading right now?

Watching – Game of Thrones. I recently started watching it for the first time after finishing House of the Dragon first – I’m up to Season Five.

Listening – To pump things up, I listen to Polyphia, Chon and Plini during work (no lyrics, just instrumental so I can focus). To help me wind down after work, I listen to music by the band, The Internet. I’m also a huge fan of Hozier, so I’ve been listening to his new song that he released for God of War: Ragnarok, “Blood on the Snow” on repeat. I’ve listened to it at least 10 times today!

Reading – I’m not much of a reader, especially if there isn’t any art or images, but I’ve always wanted to by a book by a YouTuber that I follow, Struthless. The title is “Your Head is a Houseboat: A Chaotic Guide to Mental Clarity” – I’ll probably buy it before the year ends.

Cats or dogs?

I’m definitely a dog person! We have two dogs back home – a Chihuahua mix and an Aspin (Asong Pinoy, which translates to Filipino dog).

The best holiday you’ve been on?

The one I wasn’t expecting. When Typhoon Odette hit Cebu, the authorities told us it would be one month until power and the Internet would be back up in our area. My family decided to fly out to Manila so we could all continue our work. We ended up staying there for three months! I got to fly on a plane for the first in over 10 years and explore another region of the Philippines, which was awesome.

Do you have a hidden talent?

I like to imagine that I’m a scout in the music industry, looking for the next indie band/artist to support. Just give me an emotion or vibe and I’ll hook you up with songs that match – similar to recruitment!!
