New starter alert! Meet Kaitlyn Dowd

The Sydney gang is growing, with Kaitlyn Dowd joining the team. Kaitlyn brings a few years of experience recruiting in the medical industry, and we’re super excited about her care and passion for helping candidates find their dream role.

We sat down and had a chat with Kaitlyn, so you can get to know her a little better.

What do you do at Creative Natives?

I am a Resourcer within the PR & Communications space. I’ll be finding and supporting the best of the best in the PR space across Sydney and Melbourne!

What do you love about recruitment?

I’m all about making positive relationships with candidates – transparency, relatability and being genuine are my go to’s! I also love playing a part in finding candidates a new job – it’s a pretty big life moment for them!

Why did you want to join Creative Natives?

So many reasons come to mind, but the team’s desire to create real change within the industry – this is definitely hard to come by. The team’s genuine and positive attitude AND coolness – yes coolness. And all the good stuff – supporting return to work parents and their Freelance for Good program!

How creative are you?

I’m not the most creative person myself but I have always admired creative people and the way their minds work. I am however a big lover of the arts – different genres of music, pieces of art (currently obsessing over any/ALL of Gaetano Pesce’s vases) and finding cool second hand clothing!

If you weren’t a recruiter, what would you be doing instead?

I’d have loved to study Public Policy and be working for an Indigenous led company doing research/advocacy to ensure Aboriginal perspectives are included in government reform.

If you could be a guest on any podcast, what would it be and why?

Everything Iconic by Danny Pellegrino – if Hayu is your most used streaming service you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, you’re missing out!

What are you reading / watching / listening to right now?

I recently finished Hello Beautiful by Ann Nepolitano (be prepared to cry) and Lola in the Mirror by Trent Dalton – both 100/10! I just started reading the Bee Sting by Paul Murray, so stay tuned for a review. I am always watching all things Bravo – before you judge I tend to think the most intelligent people watch reality TV and I’m also rewatching Breaking Bad.

Cats or dogs?

Silly question – dogs obviously. Specifically my 9 year old greyhound Stirling – he is the best boy!

Best trip you’ve been on?

Either NYC with my mum and siblings back in 2014 (I think I ate a hot dog from every place that sold one) or a trip to Europe with my sister – so so fun!

What’s your hidden talent?

I’m not sure if it’s a talent, but I used to quote movies so well that my mum thought the monologues were original work by me – I’m not that funny, mum!
