New starter alert! Meet Avantha Jayasinghe
Our Melbourne team has a new team member – meet Avantha Jayasinghe! A Sri Lankan native, he brings plentiful experience in operations and recruitment, so he’s an old hand at the recruitment game.
We sat down and had a chat with AJ so you can get to know him a little better.
What do you do at Creative Natives?
I’m a Junior Consultant and am looking to hit the ground running recruiting in the field of anything marketing, digital or creative related.
Why did you want to join the team?
The relatability and humanity of Creative Natives is a rare gem. I love that it has its roots embedded within the ethos of “being kind and good” and everyone here is super grounded. It makes it all the more easier to crack a joke and find our candidates a role!
What do you love about recruitment?
The satisfaction of finding someone a job cannot be replicated – being able to potentially change a person’s trajectory in life is a monumental responsibility. It’s also so rewarding that I would never consider a different line of work.
If you weren’t a recruiter, what would you be doing?
I would most probably be broke! I love what I do.
What are you watching / listening to / reading right now?
I listen to the New York Times and Financial Times podcasts for my daily source of political propaganda. I’m also reading the graphic novel, Maus and I’m watching the IPL (Indian Premier League) – like ALL of the IPL.
Cats or dogs?
I honestly love all animals. If you could find me a domesticated lion I’d probably try to pat it’s head and call it a good boy.
What’s the best holiday or trip you’ve been on?
I went on a boys trip with my uni mates to Penang, a small island off the coast of Malaysia. Let’s just say whatever happens in Penang, stays in Penang 😉
Do you have a hidden talent?
If making jokes at inappropriate times is a talent, then call me talented! I’m also pretty good with numbers. If you’ve got some performance metrics you’d like to geek out over, I’m happy to fuel the conversation.
